    Director of organizing committee

Petr Tsarkov performs the entire range of open and laparoscopic interventions on the pelvic organs and abdominal cavity. He is one of the pioneers in Russia of introducing to colorectal surgery extended lateral lymphadenectomy for rectal cancer, advanced lymph node dissection for colon cancer, pouch restoration after colectomy, nerve-sparing techniques and transanal endomicrosurgery, various methods of surgical rehabilitation of ostomy patients, new methods of surgical treatment for obstructive defecation syndrome and pelvic organs descent.

Special attention is drawn to treating patients with advanced primary and recurrent malignant tumors. Surgical treatment of such patients often requires multivisceral resection and resection of major vessels. With his participation several unique cases were performed, like removal of primary and recurrent formations of colon cancer with simultaneous resection of aorta, iliac and renal vessels, liver transplantation and one-stage colectomy.

Petr Tsarkov promotes improvement in surgical education in Russia through the international educative conference "Russian School of Colorectal Surgery" which gathers more than a 1000 participants. Since 2009 among the invited speakers to this outstanding event were: Bill Heald (UK), Steven Wexner (USA), Philip Quirke (UK), Yoshihiro Moriya (Japan), Roberto Bergamaschi (USA), Torbjorn Holm (Sweden), John Nicholls (UK), Angelita Habr-Gama (Brazil), Gina Brown (UK), Eric Rullier (France), Amjad Parvaiz (UK), Yves Panis (France), Cornelis Van de Velde (Netherlands), Arun Rojanasakul (Tailand), Eduardo Targarona (Spain), Francis Seow-Choen (Singapore), Ho-Kuyng Chun (Korea), Jianping Gong (China), Kanemitsu Yukihide (Japan), Koutaro Maeda (Japan), Mori Takeo (Japan), Kitano Seigo (Japan), Takahashi Keiichi (Japan), Willem Bemelman (Netherlands) and many others.
